Ubuntu!

Yeah. I like Ubuntu… so far. D: It took me a while to realize how crappy Debian was, so I only hope that time never comes for Ubuntu. So far it’s running smoothly. ;3

I successfully reformatted the partition Debian was on too. Now I’m trying to install MySQL.

By the way, I went on the eAthena boards, and asked two questions. One was about why the char-server wasn’t working, and the second was about what to do to connect the control panel to this server computer as a host for the mysql server database tables. I got an answer from someone via PM, but I don’t know what question he was referring to.

Also, he titled the PM “Hey gal.” xDD Actually, that’s not surprising. Though I don’t remember any instances I did it in the eAthena forums… in other places around the private server RO community, I pretended to be a girl just to judge the different reactions I would get. When I told everyone I was a guy, I was pretty much ignored. But, as expected, when I said I was a girl, even though I was in the middle of a fight with someone, he immediately apologized, and I found I could get all the help I needed. LOL. Sexist community. The entire private server community is probably filled with geeky guys with no life anyway (look at me talking xD) so the amount of time they spend with a girl is probably around nil. xP

Anyway, here was the answer to the question. I don’t know if anyone else can make sense of it. D:

k i can help you with that, the howto is very simple, configure mysql so it can be readed via internet, delete the bind line in my.cnf or else mysql in debian won’t let you use it remotely

Well, now I’m not running debian, so I don’t even know if it still applies. However Ubuntu and Debian are known to be similar seeing as Ubuntu is a derivative of Debian. But this answer was very vague and I don’t even know what the question was, so it’s even more vague. How do I configure the mysql so it can be “readed” via internet, and where the hell is my.cnf?

Oh yeah! By the way, how do you like the new theme? It’s called Foliage. I didn’t make it, but I did a ton of fixing and editing to it. Like I fixed the search function, and I added the blogroll, and the meta bar. I’ve never used CSS or PHP before really so it was fun playing around with it and learning the code for it. ;3 I love pulling the string. Hehehe.

About the Alkahest Project

The Alkahest Project is a private RO server project by Dandylion Studios. In reality, Dandylion Studios isn't a studio at all, and we know nothing about programming, or spriting, or coding, or any other such blather like that. We're just a couple of friends who want to customize the shit out of our own private RO server. This server is not and never will be open to the general public. It is only intended to house at most, twenty people at a time, and the storyline will reflect that. We hope to revolutionize the MMORPG experience by doing different things that people have never thought of before. Or maybe they have thought of it but were too lazy to actually implement anything. ;B Long story short, we're looking to make our perfect little world. =]
